Noriaki Kano je pisac i konzultant iz područja upravljanja kvalitetom. Rodio se 1940. godine u Japanu i danas sa svojih 73 godine i dalje promiče upravljanje kvalitetom. Razvio je 80-tih godina prošlog stoljeća model praćenja zadovoljstva kupaca koji je nazvan po njemu Kano model. Dobitnik je nekoliko uglednih nagrada iz područja kvalitete. Počasni je profesor na "Tokyo University of Science". Magistrirao je i doktorirao na Tokijskom sveučilištu. Dobitnik je Demingove nagrade.
Krajem 70-tih i početkom 80-tih godina prošlog stoljeća razvio je sa svojim suradnicima novi pristup istraživanju zadovoljstva kupaca. Njegova filozofija je da kupci ne gledaju podjednako sve faktore koji čine zadovoljstvo s proizvodom ili uslugom. Neki čimbenici kod proizvoda ili usluga su kupcima puno važniji u njihovom osjećaju ukupnog zadovoljstva. Također je zaslužan za promicanje TQM - Potpunog upravljanja kvalitetom. Napisao je hvaljenu knjigu naslova TQM in Service Industries. Radio je kao profesor u "University of Electro-Communications" i "Department of Management Science".
